In June 2023, persistently low sales of sawn timber prompted the Austrian sawmill industry to further reduce its cuts. The demand for softwood sawlogs, which has been significantly reduced for weeks, is therefore continuing to decline. The roundwood requirement is primarily obtained from the existing warehouses or valid contracts. The supply is usually subject to quotas, which delays the removal. Due to less felling activity outside of the calamity areas, the forest stock levels are still limited.<\/p>\n

Softwood log prices have been reduced throughout Austria, in some cases by up to \u20ac15 per cubic meter, although the lower price range of \u20ac100 has not been understepped. The leading range of spruce A\/C 2b+ is therefore between \u20ac100 and \u20ac115 per m3. However, prices remain under pressure. New deals are rare and usually only have short terms. In some cases, existing contracts are also terminated by the customer.<\/p>\n

Pine sales have come to a complete standstill. Apparently detached from the entire wood market, the demand for larch can hardly be covered.<\/p>\n

The demand for industrial logs is also declining, the locations of the paper, pulp and board industry are very well stocked. The removal and acceptance of agreed quantities takes place differently. While no restrictions have yet been reported in the north, the south is facing delays and quotas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
