The average price for imported lumber was $254 per cubic meter (CIF) in the first quarter, up 12% from the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Of the total lumber imports, softwood lumber imports increased by 9% to 4.42 million cubic meters, accounting for 68% of the national total. However, the average price of imported softwood lumber fell by 10% to $203 per cubic meter (CIF) compared to the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Imports of hardwood lumber fell 8% to 2.102 million cubic meters, accounting for 32% of the national total. The average price of imported hardwood lumber fell by 10% to $362 per cubic meter (CIF) compared to the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Among the total imports of hardwood lumber, tropical lumber imports amounted to 1.372 million cubic meters with a CIF value of US$409 million. Compared with the same period in 2022, the volume and value decreased by 16% and 14%, respectively, accounting for the total import volume of the country. 21% of the total. Nearly 60% of China's\u00a0softwood lumber\u00a0imports in the first quarter of 2023 will come from Russia. The top three suppliers are Thailand (62%), the Philippines (12%) and Gabon (8%).
