<\/span>The Swedish forest group S\u00f6dra's result for the first year weakened. The operating profit almost halved to 1.1 billion SEK (just under 103 million euros), compared to the corresponding period last year. Turnover shrank by a couple of percent to 8 billion SEK.<\/p>\n The weakening of the result is due to changes in the market for S\u00f6dra's main products, the company says.<\/p>\n The results weakened in all of the group's business areas. S\u00f6dra's sawmill segment (S\u00f6dra Wood) even went into the red, which was affected by both weakened prices and shrinking demand. The result of S\u00f6dra Skog, which is responsible for wood procurement, also went into the red, due to the increase in costs. In mass production (S\u00f6dra Cell), the operating profit decreased, but was still well over 1.2 billion SEK. The decrease is explained by the decrease in delivery volumes and the increase in raw material costs.<\/p>\n \"At the moment there are several challenges in the market, in that light we made a solid result\", the company's CEO Lotta Lyr\u00e5 assesses in the press release.<\/p>\n Lyr\u00e5 anticipates a challenging year from the start: uncertainty will increase in the short term, on the other hand, there is believed to be sufficient demand for forest products.<\/p>\n Investments are also being made in new ones.
