A number of Russian plywood producers may stop production or significantly raise prices for products<\/span>, Kommersant reports . This situation on the market was caused by the shortage of a key component for the production of plywood - phenolic formaldehyde resin, the newspaper writes.<\/p>\n According to Kommersant, the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Industries (AMDPR) asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation to resolve the issue of supplying phenol (the main component for the production of phenolic formaldehyde resin) to the domestic market, proposing to limit its export. \u201cIf the situation does not change, then by mid-May, most enterprises in the industry may stop working,\u201d the association emphasizes.<\/p>\n The largest producer of Russian plywood, Sveza, also confirmed the shortage of phenolic resins in the market, which became especially noticeable in April 2023.<\/p>\n Timur Irtuganov, Director General of AMDPR, believes that in the current situation, the state should act as a regulator and provide the necessary products, first of all, to the domestic market. The Ministry of Industry and Trade reports that the production of phenol and acetone worked stably in January-March, shipments of products were carried out at the request of consumers within the framework of agreed contracts.
