Swedish timber company Setra reported an operating loss of \u20ac5.64 million for the first quarter of 2023. <\/span>A year earlier, in January-March, the manufacturer achieved an operating income of 42.31 million euros. In addition, net sales in the reporting period amounted to 124.64 million euros, compared to a year earlier - 161.66 million euros.<\/p>\n Katarina Levin, CEO of Setra, explained the development of negative trends: \u201cGood shipments continued in the first quarter, but unfortunately with negative margins for Setra. This is mainly due to low prices and high raw material costs combined with higher energy costs.\u201d<\/p>\n Prices for Setra's products rose during the quarter, but not enough to offset the increase in the cost of raw materials, electricity and fuel. Activity in most markets was slightly better than expected, with the exception of Sweden, which has seen a marked decline in new home construction.<\/p>\n Key indicators achieved by the company in January-March 2023 (compared to the first quarter of 2022):<\/p>\n Net sales - 124.64 million euros (161.66 million euros);
\nOperating profit\/loss - -5.64 million euros (42.31 million euros);
\nProfit\/loss after tax - -4.32 million euros (33.32 million euros);
