The sluggish sales of sawn timber in Austria are slowly being felt in the roundwood market as well. Especially in the south of Austria, demand has decreased significantly due to current above-average stockpiling of spruce sawlogs and expectations of additional quantities of beetle-damaged wood.<\/span><\/p>\n In addition to weather-related transport restrictions, uptake is limited by quota restrictions. Demand is still decent in other regions, but prices are under pressure nationwide and have already been lowered in some areas. The market opportunities for pine have further deteriorated, with volumes being shifted to the pulpwood sector due to a lack of buyers. Larch still maintains its high price level, but demand often cannot be met.<\/p>\n In summary, at the end of the hardwood season, it can be noted that oak is still in very high demand, and beech is more in demand than the previous year. Following the trend of previous years, marketing was difficult for colorful hardwood, and only the best qualities could be sold.<\/p>\n Pulpwood<\/strong><\/p>\n The paper, pulp, and panel industries are sufficiently stocked with industrial roundwood. After a further calming of energy markets, material flows are largely returning to their usual course. The reduced demand for lower quality wood and revision downtime not only leads to a regional buildup of forest inventories but also puts pressure on prices, which have already been reduced in some areas. There have also been price adjustments for beech fiberwood.<\/p>\n Energy wood<\/strong><\/p>\n Due to the season, the demand for energy wood has decreased. Depending on the contract and quality, a wider range of price levels can be observed.<\/p>\n The low temperatures and higher amounts of precipitation in recent weeks have only delayed the development of bark beetles. No all-clear can be given for this year yet.
