They fell five times in February and four times in March. In April, just as the month began, there was a nationwide timber price collapse. The timber prices in nine provinces were lowered by 20-100 yuan/cubic meter (2.68-13.29 EUR/m3).

According to the latest information from the Timber Industry Information Resources Department, as of April 3, in China's main timber ports, timber import prices in Jiangsu fell by 30-60 yuan/m3 (3.86-7.72 EUR/m3); timber prices in Shandong fell by 20-50 yuan/m3 (2.58-6.45 EUR/m3); timber prices in Hebei and Tianjin fell by 40 yuan/m3 (5.16 EUR/m3); timber prices in Jiangxi fell by 40-100 yuan/m3 (5.16-12.89 EUR/m3); timber prices in Fujian fell by 30-60 yuan/m3 (3.86-7.72 EUR/m3); radiata pine fell by 20 yuan/m3 (2.58 EUR/m3) in Guangdong; timber prices in Hunan fell by 50 yuan/m3 (6.45 EUR/m3); the price fell by 20 yuan/m3 (2.58 EUR/m3) across the board.

The demand for timber across the country is bleak, and prices continue to fall, with an overall downward trend that is becoming increasingly evident.

Looking at the downstream demand side, the lack of support for future demand for building wood has led to the continued fall in prices. Currently, the supply of timber on the market is greater than the demand, and demand is weak, which has led to a continuous decline in prices.

Currently, the shrinking demand in China's construction sector has led to a continuous increase in inventory levels. All major timber markets across the country have continued to receive timber shipments, with sales falling far behind shipments.

The continued decline in timber prices indicates that processing factories have begun to frequently adjust prices in order to secure orders. Overcapacity has become the biggest problem in the current timber market, and the resulting price war may well be a fierce battle.

Since the beginning of the year, timber import prices have been falling in China.
