Mets\u00e4konepalvelu MKP, which has grown into the largest logging company in the Nordic countries, is expanding its operations in Sweden when it announced that it will buy the logging company Sven Sj\u00f6kvist Skogsavverking AB operating in Sm\u00e5land.<\/p>\n
Mets\u00e4konepalvelu expanded its operations to Sweden in 2011, when it bought Dunbergs Skogsservice Ab from Eks\u00f6 in southern Sweden and formed MKP Sverige AB from it.<\/p>\n
The acquisition was the fourth in Sweden after the acquisition of Dunberg. Most recently, MKP bought Reko Gallringsentreprenad AB's logging machines in 2021. In Finland, MKP has bought several logging companies, most recently Kone-Yij\u00e4l\u00e4 operating in J\u00e4ms\u00e4 in 2019.<\/p>\n
According to Sven Sj\u00f6kvist Skogsavverking AB, the turnover in 2021 was around 2.6 million euros and its result was barely profitable.<\/p>\n
Mets\u00e4konepalvelu's Swedish subsidiary MKP Sverige's turnover was just under seven million euros in the same year, so the deal made now will significantly increase the volume of the company's operations. The companies operate geographically close to each other. MKP Sverige is Sweden's largest logging company.<\/p>\n
In total, Mets\u00e4konepalvelu Group's turnover was 32 million euros last year, so the largest part of turnover is still generated in Finland. Mets\u00e4konepalvelu is also Finland's largest forest machine company.<\/p>\n
Founded in Finland in 1970, Mets\u00e4konepalvelu operates widely in different parts of southern Finland, and its head office is in H\u00e4meenlinna. In total, the group's machines harvest approximately three million cubic meters of wood.
