Van Hoorebeke Timber will be taken over by sector colleague Hout-Bois van Steenberge from Zottegem. Ghent-based Van Hoorebeke Timber, which dates back to 1740, is one of Belgium's largest timber companies.<\/p>\n
The acquisition creates a wood group with 120 employees and a turnover approaching 120 million euros, says managing director Benoit Clarysse.

Their team has an impressive track record in importing, storing, drying and planing wood species from around the world and distributing wood products in Europe. The North Sea Port facility is strategically located with its highly efficient timber terminal, for importing timber products from all over the world and exporting them across Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Van Hoorebeke Timber was founded in 1740 as a brewery by Ambrosius van Hoorebeke. The company from Ghent evolved into a trade in building materials and was developed by successive generations into one of the largest timber companies in Belgium.<\/p>\n
Hout-Bois van Steenberge also goes back a long time. It was Joseph van Steenberge who took over a timber trade in the center of Zottegem in 1903 and thus gave the starting shot of a family business with international allures.<\/p>\n
Both companies will continue to operate under their own brand names. Financial details were not released.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
