Vietnam\u2019s Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that on March 23, 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the sixth extension of the time for releasing the final conclusion of the tax evasion investigation. Imposing countervailing duties on plywood that uses hardwood materials imported from Vietnam.<\/p>\n
Therefore, final conclusions are expected to be published on May 2, 2023.<\/p>\n
According to the Trade Remedy Administration, previously, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced on July 25, 2022 that if the plywood products imported from Vietnam to the United States have core materials made of plywood, the peeled plywood products imported from China will be ruled.<\/p>\n
For plywood from Vietnam, if its core material uses peeled board produced in Vietnam or other countries, it will not be subject to anti-dumping and countervailing duties.<\/p>\n
Also according to the Trade Remedy Administration, the provisional rate could be as high as 378.26%, applicable to goods imported into the United States from June 17, 2020.<\/p>\n
However, the Ministry of Commerce allows Vietnamese companies that cooperate with the investigation to prove that they do not use Chinese materials, so as not to be restricted by the measures.<\/p>\n
According to estimates, the number of companies participating in self-certification accounted for about 80% of Vietnam's exports during the survey period.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
