Oak wood from public forests are allegedly illegally exported to China. The online media Disclose investigated for several months the illegal trafficking of wood from French forests, and in particular\u00a0 from the Ardennes, to China.<\/p>\n
The two journalists who sign these articles were able to interview the owner of a sawmill in the Ardennes. \u201cI have here the equivalent of ten containers of oak trees, or 250 m\u00b3, he explains anonymously to our colleagues. If I transform them on site, that means a loss of 40,000 euros for the company. If they go to China, that's a gain of 15,000 euros.\"<\/p>\n
Some of these oaks are however labeled \"EU Transformation\", assures Disclose. This stamp requires that the wood be processed within the European Union. More than 80% of the oaks in public forests managed by the National Forestry Office (ONF) benefit from this label, precisely designed to protect against any illegal export.<\/p>\n
But a traffic has been set up to circumvent the label, with the intervention of Chinese traders and the use of shell companies to cover their tracks, denounces the online media.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
