Economic development in Austria is currently restrained. The main reason for this is the weak construction sector. Construction companies' expectations for the coming months have continued to deteriorate.<\/p>\n
The Austrian sawmill industry is mostly well stocked with spruce sawlogs. Demand continues to be good with increasing stocks of lumber. The prices have stabilized and are between 109 and 125 euros per cubic meter for the leading range of spruce A\/C 2b+. The delivery is regionally restricted due to the weather. Restrictions caused by the thaw and a lack of freight capacity lead to smaller forest camps in the region, but transport is usually quick. Pine is still maintaining its price level, but marketing has become more difficult due to a lack of buyers. Larch is still very much in demand compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n
In the hardwood market, oak, beech and ash continue to be in high demand, but the hardwood season is coming to an end due to the weather.<\/p>\n
Pulpwood<\/strong><\/p>\n The buyers of pulpwood are mostly still fully receptive. The removal and acceptance usually take place promptly and continuously. The prices are stagnating, the quotations for sawmill by-products have already fallen significantly. Red beech pulpwood is in high demand with stable prices. Ash can be marketed without any problems compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n Energy wood<\/strong><\/p>\n The energy wood market is still receptive, but regionally the demand for firewood is already weakening at the end of the heating season.
