On March 6 this year, Poland's State Forests issued a press release related to the sales procedures for the second quarter. Due to the lack of stability of the rules for the sale of wood set by the State Forests, it is difficult to compare the dates of schedules from previous years.<\/p>\n
In 2020 system auctions for the second half of the year started on May 8, 2021. Last year, the sale procedures began on March 22, during the still ongoing bull market. The first signs of a market collapse appeared a month later. This year we are dealing with a huge collapse in demand on the market of wooden products in Poland and abroad. Problems on the domestic market are a result of, among others, a significant slowdown in housing construction, which affects directly (e.g. structural timber, finishing materials) or indirectly (e.g. furniture) the level of demand for products made of wood.<\/p>\n
Immediately after the publication of the announcement, there were opinions from the Polish wood industry that this date is too early due to the difficult to predict development of the situation on the market, which will take place in the second half of 2023. High inflation, high demand for wood products that took place until the middle of last year and the constant shortage of the raw material pushed its prices to a record level. Price increase in 2022 year on year, in most assortments, it exceeded 40%, and in some cases it reached nearly 90%.<\/p>\n
On March 10, wood industry organizations in Poland sent a request to the director general of the State Forests to postpone the procedures for selling wood to the beginning of May. In the letter sent, the entrepreneurs indicate that with the ongoing collapse of sales on the product market, which is forced by, among others, prices of products, are unable to decide today what quantities of wood they will need in the second half of the year and what price they can offer for them.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
