S\u00f6dra\u2019s new cross-laminated timber (CLT) facility was inaugurated yesterday (March 15) on the west coast of Sweden. The facility is one of the largest in Sweden and marks a tenfold increase in S\u00f6dra\u2019s production capacity.<\/p>\n
The opening will be attended by the governor of Halland, Brittis Benzler, and the chairman of the municipal board in Varberg, Ann-Charlotte Stenkil.\u00a0S\u00f6dra's board chairman Magnus Hall and S\u00f6dra's CEO Lotta Lyr\u00e5 were also present.<\/p>\n
The plant at V\u00e4r\u00f6 is one of the largest in Sweden for the production of CLT with the capacity to supply framing materials for just over 4,000 homes per year, a tenfold increase in S\u00f6dra\u2019s production capacity. By investing in production at V\u00e4r\u00f6, S\u00f6dra is close to several developing regions for CLT in the Nordic region. Logistically, the product can also be easily shipped to international markets from the port in Varberg. CLT production is completely fossil free as it uses green energy produced at S\u00f6dra\u2019s pulp mill at V\u00e4r\u00f6.<\/p>\n
