A storm and snowfall at the beginning of February led to isolated minor damage in some regions, and the volumes that consequently resulted are currently being absorbed by the market.<\/p>\n
The demand for spruce sawlogs is currently very brisk. If there are no weather-related restrictions, the volumes made available are quickly removed from the forests and sold. Prices increased in February and are between 107 and 125 euros per cubic meter for spruce sawlogs A\/C 2b+ throughout Austria. A revival in demand, with regionally increased prices, could also be observed for pine. Larch continues to maintain its high price level, and demand usually exceeds supply.<\/p>\n
On the sawlog market, oak is still the most popular type of wood. This was also reflected in the value wood submissions. The highest bid of 3,392 euros\/m3 was for an oak tree. The most valuable trunk, with 6.5 fm, was also an oak - it fetched around 10,000 euros. However, beech and ash are also currently in high demand on the market.<\/p>\n
Pulpwood<\/strong><\/p>\n The paper, pulp and board industry are still fully receptive to pulpwood logs. Prices have stabilized and are well above the level of previous years. Red beech pulpwood is in high demand with increased prices. Ash can be marketed without any problems compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n Energy wood<\/strong><\/p>\n The demand for energy wood is uninterruptedly brisk with prices tending to rise. After consumers have stocked up on firewood, the demand for this range is currently quiet.
