In 2022, the European softwood lumber exports to the USA continued their upward trend seen in the past years, although with the pace of growth lower in value terms, as export prices have been slightly lower as compared to the past year. (see price chart below).<\/p>\n

The volume of European softwood lumber exports from January to November 2022 was 43% higher yoy and reached a total of over 5.8 million cubic meters, while in value European lumber shipments to the US increased by 28% (up to EUR 1.7 billion).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In January-November 2022, US' main source for European softwood was Germania<\/strong> with 2.4 million m3. In value, German exports grew by 25% up to EUR 956 million. Sweden<\/strong> came second with 1.2 million m3 and a 89% increase yoy. In value, Sweden's softwood lumber exports to US increased by 70%, up to EUR 491 million.<\/p>\n
