In the period from January 2022 to December 2022, a significant increase in the prices of roundwood has occurred on the Latvian wood market compared to 2021. In connection with various events in 2022, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the decisions of the European Union to refuse to buy wood from Russia and Belarus, as well as other events, the Latvian timber market experienced rapid price changes, making the market practically unpredictable.<\/p>\n
When examining the prices of softwood roundwood for 2022, the lowest prices were in the period from January to March, and the highest from September to December. Thus the highest price for softwood roundwood assortments was reached in April, when the price of pine sawlogs was 129.37 EUR\/m3, and the price of spruce sawlogs was 123.2 EUR\/m3. The lowest price of softwood sawlogs was obtained in December, when the price of pine logs was 93.61 EUR\/m3, the price of spruce logs was 92.73 EUR\/m3 .<\/p>\n
The price of birch sawlogs had a tendency to increase steadily on an annual basis, with the lowest point in March at 118.81 EUR\/m3 and the highest price reached in December at 153.59 EUR\/m3.<\/p>\n
The price of oak, ash and aspen increased steadily on an annual basis. The lowest price of hardwood logs was obtained in January, when the price of birch logs was 105.00 EUR\/m3, while the price of aspen was 48.01 EUR\/m3 and the price of oak and ash logs was 79.28 EUR\/m3.<\/p>\n
The highest price of hardwood logs was recorded in September and October, when birch was priced at 148.0. EUR\/m3, aspen and white oak logs cost 103.71 EUR\/m3 and oak and ash timber around 134.25 EUR\/m3.<\/p>\n
The lowest price of the pulpwood assortment was observed in the month of January, the price of softwood pulpwod was 44.5 EUR\/m3. The highest price of pulpwood was in October, when the price of softwood pulpwood was on average 89.36 EUR\/m3, the price of birch paperwood 126.49 EUR\/m3, the price of aspen paperwood 95.09 EUR\/m3.<\/p>\n
From January to October, hardwood and softwood firewood prices have steadily increased, with the price reaching its highest point at the beginning of the heating season. but from October to December it was observed that the price of firewood starts to decrease, the same trends can be observed for the assortment of oak, ash firewood, with the difference that from June to October the price increases of the assortment are significantly higher The price of firewood reaches its lowest price in January, when the price of hardwood and softwood firewood is 37.01 EUR\/m3, the price of oak, ash firewood is 64.28 EUR\/m3. The highest price of firewood was reached in October, when\u00a0 the price of hardwood and softwood firewood was 77.72 EUR\/m3, and the price of oak and ash firewood was 115.92 EUR\/m3.<\/p>\n
