In November 2022, for the 5th month in a row, Swedish sawnwood export prices continued to decrease: -2.93% compared to the previous month and -31.1% compared to November 2021.<\/p>\n
However, they remain above their levels of November 2019 (+35.57%) and November 2020 (+19.04%).<\/p>\n
Compared to October 2022, the prices of red wood fell by -6.5% and those of white wood by -1.2%.\u00a0Domestic market prices decreased by -2.8% and are currently -32.1% lower than the previous year's prices.<\/p>\n

As with export prices, domestic prices nevertheless remain above their levels of November 2019 (+28.53%) and November 2020 (+19.27%).<\/p>\n
During the fall of 2021, Swedish sawn timber prices reached record levels, driven by the pandemic and high demand.\u00a0And an oversupply of wood products then began to build up both with the builders' merchants and with the buyers.\u00a0But in early 2022, the supply-demand ratio became more balanced after prices rose.\u00a0But when Russia began its invasion of Ukraine, prices began to rise further as buyers fearing the sanctions against Russia began to build up inventory.\u00a0But as energy prices also rose, demand from both households and professional builders decreased.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
