Tolko Industries has announced that as of January 2, 2023, its Soda Creek and Armstrong Lumber operations in B.C. will take additional downtime for the month of January. The downtime will be evaluated at the end of the month to determine next steps.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lack of available economic fibre and weak markets are impacting our operating footprint in the province,\u201d said Troy Connolly, vice-president of solid wood. \u201cWhile our goal is to ensure consistency and stability for all of our operations, the steep decline in lumber demand and upward cost pressures in the province make the decision necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n
These temporary curtailments will reduce production by approximately 35 million board feet of stud lumber.<\/p>\n
The original holiday downtime started Dec. 19 in Armstrong and Dec. 28 in Soda Creek.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
