Segezha Group officially opened the Galich plywood mill, which is one of the largest greenfield projects in the Russian timber industry, the company's press service reports.<\/p>\n
The total investment amounted to more than 12 billion rubles (EUR 163 million).\u00a0This is the first production of plywood in the size \"maxi\" (7x13 feet) in Russia.\u00a0The design capacity is 125 thousand m\u00b3 of products per year.\u00a0Taking into account logging and reforestation, the enterprise will provide jobs for about 1 thousand people.<\/p>\n
To provide the plant with timber, the company leases in the Kostroma region.\u00a0about 700 thousand hectares of the forest fund with an allowable cutting area of \u200b\u200babout 1.5 million m\u00b3 of wood per year.<\/p>\n
In related news,\u00a0Segezha Group is considering selling its European assets or forming joint ventures with a minority stake.\u00a0The company has already received three offers from potential buyers, but no decision has yet been made.\u00a0The establishment of production facilities for paper packaging in Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Malaysia, Vietnam, China and Mexico is also being examined.<\/p>\n
