The average price of a new euro pallet in Germany at the end of November is 14 euros.\u00a0Half a year ago, in May, it cost 23-25 \u200b\u200beuros.\u00a0A 40% drop is most likely not the end, according to Pacurion's forecasts.<\/p>\n

Pacurion is a German company that runs a pallet trading system.\u00a0Its analyzes show that the price for a new Euro pallet in December this year\u00a0will be EUR 12.80 each.\u00a0This means a further drop in prices, which in November stood at EUR 14 per unit.\u00a0Since the May peak (EUR 23-25\/unit), the price reduction amounted to approx. 40%.\u00a0The difference compared to November last year is not so large (a decrease of approx. 18%), but also clear.\u00a0Importantly, with the increase in the main production costs observed in the last year, i.e. raw material, energy and wages, lower prices will directly affect pallet producers.<\/p>\n

It is not without reason that some economy analysts point to the pallet market as a barometer of the economy.\u00a0While the spring, also rapid, increase in pallet prices was associated primarily with Russia's attack on Ukraine and, as a consequence, cutting off supplies of pallets from Russia, Belarus and partly from Ukraine, internal factors are considered to be the reason for the deep drop in prices that is currently taking place.\u00a0This is mainly due to the reduction of production by virtually all branches of German industry, in particular those related to construction.<\/p>\n

Prices of new euro pallets on the German market<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to Pacurion, the huge competition in the German pallet market is an additional incentive.\u00a0It is worth remembering that Germany is the largest producer in Europe.\u00a0In second place is Poland, for which German customers are also the main recipient.\u00a0Ukraine has the third largest share in European production.<\/p>\n

Further development of the situation on the pallet market is difficult to predict.\u00a0It is currently difficult to predict how the construction industry will behave in the coming year, but many experts expect a drastic decline in the activity of this sector.\u00a0There is also no optimistic information from other sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n

The war in Ukraine is indicated as a stimulus that could cause a temporary increase in prices. Recently, after Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, several producers in the Kiev region had to completely stop production due to a power outage. It is possible that producers from western Ukraine will also be forced to reduce or even stop production.<\/p>\n

The current availability of wood raw material on the German market is indicated as a positive element of the puzzle.\u00a0The cooling of the economy resulted in a decrease in demand from both domestic producers and a significant reduction in purchases made by China.\u00a0The decline in lumber prices in the US, which has had a strong impact on the directions of sales and the availability of lumber in the last two years, is also significant.\u00a0Currently, pallet manufacturers in Germany have no problem with access to the raw material and lumber needed for production.\u00a0Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict how long this situation will last.<\/p>\n

Pallet price forecast December 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Pacurion's forecasts in December 2022.\u00a0prices for new Euro pallets will be approx. EUR 12.85.\u00a0Used class A euro pallets will cost around EUR 12.70 and class B around EUR 11.50.\u00a0According to these estimates, used Euro-class C pallets will cost approx. EUR 10.50.\u00a0In turn, the price of a disposable pallet, 1200x800 mm, IPPC, dried to 22%, board thickness 17 mm will be approx. EUR 7.05.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
