In September, for the 4th consecutive month, Swedish sawn timber export prices fell further compared to the previous month. Recall that in August, the latter had decreased by -5.1% compared to July and by -26.1% compared to August 2021.<\/p>\n

In September, export prices decreased by - 8.6% and are - 31.6% lower than September 2021 prices. Red wood prices decreased by -10.8% and white wood by -7.5%. Domestic prices decreased by -6.9% and are currently -31.5% lower than the previous year's prices.<\/p>\n

The indices (2000=100) refer to monthly deliveries and are based on several dimensions\/qualities (about 40 dimensions\/qualities of sawn and planed redwood and whitewood). The indices describe the evolution in SEK\/m3 and are therefore directly influenced by currency fluctuations. Please note that the index for the domestic market is based on the price development of all sawn and planed timber produced in Swedish sawmills (CN 4407). This means that hardwood products are also included. But since the share of hardwood produced in Swedish sawmills is very low, the influence of hardwood products is considered marginal. The index series are compiled by SCB (Statistics Sweden).<\/p>\n
