The Austrian sawmill industry is sufficiently stocked with softwood logs corresponding to the current demand, but there are regional differences.<\/p>\n

In the Oberk\u00e4rnten-Osttirol region, where most of the damaged wood is currently being processed, demand is subdued and hardly any new contracts are concluded. Outside of this region, marketing is seasonal, with a general emphasis on dealing with drought damage and thinning. If freight capacities are available, contractually agreed quantities are transported away promptly. Prices have stabilized and an average of 105 euros is paid for the leading range of spruce A\/C, 2b. The price for pine is also stable, larch maintains its high price level and demand can hardly be met.<\/p>\n

On the hardwood log market , the demand for oak is still very good, but there is also increasing demand for ash and beech. Correspondingly significant price increases have been recorded. Demand for maple remains subdued. When it comes to hardwood, only the best qualities are in demand.<\/p>\n

Pulpwood<\/strong><\/p>\n

The softwood pulpwood market remains dynamic. Due to the reduced cuts in the Austrian sawmill industry and the continued need of the pellet producers, the supply of sawmill by-products is significantly reduced. The demand for all forest-falling assortments is correspondingly brisk. Quantities made available are transported and accepted without delay. The prices are stable at a high level. Red beech pulpwood is also very much in demand at higher prices.<\/p>\n

Energy wood<\/strong><\/p>\n

The persistently high prices for fossil fuels continue to ensure lively demand for energy wood. A stabilization can be observed with firewood that is ready for the stove. However, demand will remain high and will continue to provide income opportunities for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
