The assessment of the current situation rose minimally to +6 points in October (previous month: +2 points).\u00a0The outlook for the next six months improved again, the current value is -59.6 points (previous month: -65.8 points).\u00a0Overall, the curve of the HDH economic indicator rose slightly in October to -29.9 points (previous month: -35.3 points).\u00a0The German timber industry thus continued to fare significantly weaker than the entire manufacturing sector.\u00a0Because the value calculated by the ifo Institute for the business climate in the entire manufacturing sector in Germany was -15.9 points in October.<\/p>\n
In view of the different impacts on the individual segments, the mood in the German timber industry remains mixed.\u00a0The companies in the wood-based materials industry, in the construction-related area of \u200b\u200bthe wood industry and in the wood packaging industry assessed their business situation positively.\u00a0However, the expectations in all segments indicate negative developments in the coming months.\u00a0In particular, the sawmill industry (-98.5 points), the furniture industry (-68.7 points) and prefabricated timber construction (-63.3 points) are looking to the future with concern: these segments expect the business situation to deteriorate significantly in the next six months.\u00a0From the point of view of the HDH, this is mainly due to the declining demand for construction and the deterioration in consumer sentiment.<\/p>\n
