<\/p>\nSeptember is the second month in a row in which a drop in the prices of OSB boards and softwood lumber was recorded in Poland.<\/p>\n
In 2021 and the first quarter of 2022. wood products in Poland recorded an unprecedented price rally. On the one hand, fueled by huge demand from buyers caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which the surge in demand for softwood lumber and home and garden furnishings, and the need to compensate for the growing production costs - primarily in terms of rising wood raw material and energy prices and labor costs, but also practically all other means of production. In 2021 the increase in the prices of the product group \"OSB boards and wood\"(see charts), according to the reports of the PSB Handel SA Group, was as high as in the first quarter of 2022.<\/p>\n
This tendency stopped around the turn of April and May this year.\u00a0The producers of the garden furnishings were the first to meet the market slump.\u00a0Sales in May dropped significantly compared to the previous year, in June they practically stopped.\u00a0Polish furniture makers, recording a decline in orders of up to 50%, began to struggle with the reduction in demand.<\/p>\n

During the summer holidays, sales in other sectors of wood production began to decline significantly.\u00a0At the end of August, entrepreneurs operating in Poland's wood industry hoped that this was a temporary, holiday slowdown in the market.\u00a0Unfortunately, September did not cause the usual rebound, but an even deeper slump.<\/p>\n
The difficult situation is documented by monthly price changes reported by the PSB Handel SA Group.\u00a0After the price increase in the first quarter, the dynamics began to decline rapidly.\u00a0In July, it dropped practically to zero, and in August and September it was 1\/4 lower than in the previous year.<\/p>\n
OSB boards and softwood lumber are the only product group that in the period of 9 months of 2022\u00a0recorded a negative dynamics of prices.<\/p>\n
