In the German wood industry, the expectations that have been growing pessimistic for months are now also causing the assessment of the current economic situation to deteriorate.\u00a0Specifically, according to the Munich-based ifo survey in September, the value for assessing the current situation in the timber industry fell significantly to +0.4 points (previous month: +13.4 points).\u00a0The outlook for the next six months also deteriorated to a value of -68.7 points (previous month: -60.5 points).\u00a0Overall, the HDH economic indicator fell to -37.7 points in September (previous month: -27.5 points).<\/p>\n

The increases in sales that were still registered to varying degrees depending on the sub-sector in the first half of 2022 largely came to a standstill in the summer.<\/p>\n

According to the German Federal Statistical Office, sales in the timber industry in the first seven months of this year were only around a fifth above the level from January to July 2021, after an increase of 25% in the first half of the year.\u00a0The same applied to the wood-based materials industry as an important sub-sector.<\/p>\n

In the sawmill industry, the gap to the previous year's level even decreased by 8% to a sales increase of only 25% compared to the corresponding previous year's value.<\/p>\n

The wood packaging sector continued to lead the sales increases.\u00a0According to information from the Federal Statistical Office, sales in the wood packaging industry from January to July 2022 exceeded the level of the corresponding prior-year period by around 45%.<\/p>\n

At the other end of the spectrum, sales in the construction-related area of \u200b\u200bthe wood industry were only 14% higher than in 2021. Sales in the furniture industry from January to July 2022 were 11% higher than in the previous year.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
