Stora Enso\u2019s new production site for cross-laminated timber (CLT) in \u017dd\u00edrec, the Czech Republic, was inaugurated last week. Following a Euro 79 million investment, the new CLT site is one of the most modern in the world, supporting Stora Enso\u2019s strategy of growth within wooden building solutions.<\/p>\n

With the new site, Stora Enso\u2019s CLT production capacity will grow substantially to meet the increasing demand for sustainable, cost-effective and renewable building materials.<\/p>\n

The project proceeded according to plan from the investment decision made in September 2020 to the start of production in the 3Q 2022, when the first panel was manufactured. The estimated annual production capacity will be approximately 120,000 m\u00b3 after ramp-up.<\/p>\n

The \u017dd\u00edrec site is favourably located close to European markets. With the new production site up and running, Stora Enso is strengthening its position as one of the world\u2019s leading providers of wood-based building solutions with a total capacity of 490,000 m\u00b3.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a historic moment,\u201d says Martin Brebis, mill manager at \u017dd\u00edrec. \u201cThe combination with the existing sawmill will bring additional benefits, for example in terms of raw materials, energy and logistics. It will also add more than 100 new employment opportunities on the site.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u017dd\u00edrec is Stora Enso\u2019s fourth production unit for CLT, following Bad St. Leonhard and Ybbs in Austria, and Gruv\u00f6n in Sweden.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
