European softwood lumber exports to the USA almost doubled in the first seven months of the year, with the pace of growth lower in valuer terms, as export prices have been slightly lower as compared to last year. (see price chart below).<\/p>\n

The volume of European softwood lumber exports from January to July 2022 was 96% higher yoy and reached a total of over 5 million cubic meters, while in value European lumber shipments to the US increased by 75% (up to EUR 1.5 billion).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In January-July 2022, US' main source for European softwood was Germania<\/strong> with 1.9 million m3 and a share of 34 percent of the overall American imports from Europe. In value, German exports grew by 75% up to EUR 840 million.<\/p>\n

Sweden<\/strong> came second with 889 thousand m3 and a 107% increase yoy. In value, Sweden's softwood lumber exports to US increased by 104%, up to EUR 420 million.<\/p>\n

Significant growth rates in exports to the US were reported from\u00a0Romania\u00a0<\/strong>(+55% in volume and 50% in value) and Latvia<\/strong> (+393% in volume and 853% in value).<\/p>\n
