Organizations representing entrepreneurs in Poland's timber industry whose existence depends on the availability of wood raw materials, appealed the Polish State Forests for changes that will stop the soaring prices.<\/p>\n

The drastic increase in average wood prices caused by the policy of the State Forests and the disruptions in supply chains as a result of the war in Ukraine threaten the wood industry in Poland, the organizations say.<\/p>\n

The Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers and the Association of Polish Papermakers, the Association of Wood-like Panels Producers in Poland, the Polish Association of Garden Program Producers, the Sawmill Industry Association, the Polish National Committee of EPAL, the Polish Chamber of Commerce of the Wood Industry, as well as the Polish Windows and Doors Association sent an open letter to Krzysztof Janeczko, Deputy Director General of the State Forests for Economic Affairs.\u00a0In a joint letter, the organizations call for a constructive discussion and elaboration of changes in the rules for the sale of timber in the State Forests for 2023.<\/p>\n

Representatives of entrepreneurs point to the difficult situation of enterprises in the Polish wood industry and the unstable wood market in Poland.\u00a0They indicate the need for the State Forests to introduce changes in the sales rules and the criteria for evaluating offers for 2023, which would translate into an improvement in the cost situation and wood supply to companies processing raw materials in Poland, as well as developing remedial measures in the event of a developing recession and the possible need for terminating contracts.\u00a0Among the proposed changes, the organizations mention, for example, the restoration of the provisions on determining the minimum and maximum prices and opening prices for sales procedures.<\/p>\n

As the senders of the letter write, in today's extremely unstable economic and geopolitical situation, the rational and pragmatic demands of the wood industries are justified by the need to protect buyers and producers in the country.\u00a0For this purpose, urgent and decisive actions are needed on the part of the State Forests.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the lack of consensus may change this drastically, contributing to the problems of employers, bankruptcies of Polish enterprises and a wave of layoffs, the organizations say.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
