{"id":82896,"date":"2022-09-11T10:06:10","date_gmt":"2022-09-11T10:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/german-timber-trade-suffers-high-energy-costs\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:58:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:58:12","slug":"german-timber-trade-suffers-high-energy-costs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/german-timber-trade-suffers-high-energy-costs\/","title":{"rendered":"German timber trade suffers from high energy costs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>In August, the German Timber Trade Association (GD Holz) carried out a survey on the increased energy costs in the timber trade.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 33 companies surveyed, the majority (45%) mainly uses wood to generate heat.\u00a0Followed by gas at 38% and oil at 10%.\u00a055% of the survey participants state that they produce their own electricity.\u00a0On average, these companies cover 50% of their electricity needs from their own generation.<\/p>\n<p>For 2023, the timber trade expects significant cost increases in the energy sector; according to the companies, the costs have already risen significantly in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the potential for saving energy, 69% of participants saw medium or high potential when it came to \u201cinvesting in renewable energies\u201d.\u00a042% see medium or high potential in reducing their energy consumption in general.\u00a0A third of the participants each see medium or high potential for the topics of \u201cswitching to other energy sources\u201d and \u201cinvesting in energy-saving measures\u201d.\u00a0The energy saving measures in the warehouse or exhibition area scored the worst here, with 82% and 85% seeing little or no potential here.\u00a0The companies surveyed aim to reduce their energy consumption by 14% on average.<\/p>\n<p>Another important issue is whether the increased energy costs can be passed on to customers.\u00a0The survey participants state that on average they can pass on 21% of the cost increase to their customers.<\/p>\n<p>67% of the companies surveyed expect more support for renewable energies from politicians.\u00a045% of those surveyed find the topic of \"More support for energy saving measures\" important, followed by 42% for \"Risk distribution across as many energy sources as possible\" and 30% for reduced tax rates.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, questions were asked about the consequences for the timber trade if the energy supply cannot be kept stable in winter.\u00a027% expect a significant drop in sales, followed by 55% who expect minor to moderate consequences.<\/p>\n<p>In related news, in an open letter, the President of the Federal Association of German Prefabricated Construction (BDF), Hans Volker Noller, addressed Chancellor Olaf Scholz and emphasized the existential threat to medium-sized companies from the explosion in energy prices. According to Noller, the already highest energy costs in a European comparison and the associated competitive disadvantages for German companies have pushed both the economic upswing and urgent future investments in an ecological transformation of the companies into the distant future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"section-title\"><\/h2>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In August, the German Timber Trade Association (GD Holz) carried out a survey on the increased energy costs in the timber trade.
