Koskisen\u00a0will carry out an investment in K\u00e4rk\u00f6l\u00e4 worth Euro 48 million, with production scheduled to start up in summer 2023. The new unit\u2019s annual production will initially be 400,000 m3 of softwood sawn timber.<\/p>\n
The investment is a continuation of the further processing capacity expansion carried out in 2020 and the power plant investment in which heat production was converted entirely to biofuel.<\/p>\n
The starting point for Koskisen\u2019s integrated mechanical wood processing operations in J\u00e4rvel\u00e4 is high eco-efficiency and the highest possible utilisation of the wood material.<\/p>\n
The investment project will involve moving the sawmilling operations from the centre of J\u00e4rvel\u00e4 to the sawn timber finishing and further processing operations, 4 kilometres away from the current location.<\/p>\n
This will create synergies in production and significantly reduce the emissions from the sawmill\u2019s internal logistics.<\/p>\n
