At the beginning of August 2021, construction of the Binderholz solid wood panel plant II began in St. Georgen near Salzburg. The investment includes a fully automatic production plant with the aspect of meeting the highest ecological demands economically.\u00a0In the production hall, with an area of \u200b\u200b180 x 40 m and a height of 20 m, there is a two-storey production facility and a fully automated two-row high-bay warehouse made of solid wood.<\/p>\n

The ground floor will be a hybrid construction made of reinforced concrete and Binderholz BBS cross-laminated timber, the upper floor and the high-bay warehouse will be made entirely of solid wood.\u00a0Compared to the previous production processes in Plant I, there will be numerous innovations for future production in Plant II.<\/p>\n

The entire production logistics from the high-bay warehouse is controlled here with two storage and retrieval machines.\u00a0When designing the new plant, emphasis was placed on resource efficiency and optimizing the use of energy.\u00a0Special attention was paid to the production of the cover and middle slats.<\/p>\n

Production in the new Plant II is scheduled to start at the end of 2022. This results in additional capacities for the 3-layer solid wood panels in the 5000x1250x12-60 mm format for the European market, with which the supply gap in Europe is to be closed.
