In May 2022, Austria's timber construction is still benefiting from a very good demand situation, although the development forecast from autumn is slowly becoming uncertain.<\/p>\n

After a lot of cuts in the past few months, the Austrian sawmill industry has a medium stock level situation at the end of the felling season. The demand for all ranges is correspondingly high, and the logged wood is transported away quickly.\u00a0However, insufficient transport capacities is a limiting factor.\u00a0The prices have risen again, regionally the limit of \u20ac 130 per cubic meter has already been exceeded.\u00a0Due to a lack of imported volumes of Siberian larch timber, the demand for larch is still very lively.\u00a0Pine is also in high demand with prices on the rise.<\/p>\n

The softwood pulpwood demand in the\u00a0Austrian paper, board and pulp industry\u00a0is high.\u00a0The prices have stabilized, but due to the rising prices for energy wood ranges, there seems to be movement in pricing.\u00a0Red beech pulpwood is in demand with stable prices.<\/p>\n

The demand for all types of energy wood is very brisk, and in some cases significant price increases have been achieved.\u00a0The price of firewood has sometimes exceeded \u20ac100 per cubic meter.<\/p>\n

The weather in April only delayed the development of the bark beetle.\u00a0Extreme caution is currently required and the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture recommends weekly stock checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
