In the first three months of 2022, China imported 4 million m\u00b3 of softwood lumber, recording an increase of 12.5% compared to the same period of last year when imports had totaled 3.6 million m\u00b3.<\/p>\n
The biggest volume, i. e. 2.5 million m\u00b3, came from Russia, which accounts for 62.5% of China\u2019s overall softwood lumber imports.\u00a0The average price of softwood lumber rose 27.2% to $235.1 per cubic metre.<\/p>\n
In the first quarter of 2022, Chinese softwood log imports decreased by 44% or around 5.15 million m\u00b3 compared to the same period of last year.<\/p>\n
Enthusiasm in China's timber trading market is much lower than in previous years.\u00a0Especially for imported logs, the lockdown caused by Covid-19, the disorder of transportation, and the uncertainty and instability of market demand have intensified the wait-and-see mood of Chinese timber traders.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
