In February 2022, China\u2019s imports of softwood lumber dropped 1.6% year-on-year to 1,131.9 thousand m3. The value of imports soared 25.2% to $266.1 million. Average price of softwood lumber jumped 27.2% to $235.1 per m3.<\/p>\n
According to Customs data,\u00a0 softwood lumber imports from Russia and Canada, the two main source countries of China\u2019s dropped 13% and 45% respectively in 2021. The volume of softwood lumber imports from Russia accounted for 66% of the national total in 2021 which has been the case for 7 consecutive years. The market share of China\u2019s softwood lumber imports from Canada has declined steadily since 2014 and was just 8% of total imports in 2021.
