The average price for imported softwood lumber was US$221 per cubic meters, up 25% year on year. The average price for imported hardwood lumber was US$381 per cubic meters, a year on year increase of 5%. In contrast, lumber imports from Thailand and Brazil rose 6% and 30% to 3.77 million cubic meters and 540,000 million cubic meters respectively in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s lumber imports from Canada, USA, Finland and Germany declined 45%, 33%, 32% and 41% respectively in 2021 which was the main reason for the decline in the total China\u2019s lumber imports in 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rise in China\u2019s softwood lumber imports from Brazil and New Zealand<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to Customs data lumber imports from Russia and Canada, the two main source countries of China\u2019s dropped 13% and 45% respectively in 2021. The volume of sawn softwood imports from Russia accounted for 66% of the national total in 2021 which has been the case for 7 consecutive years.
