Average log stocks\u00a0towards the end of the main felling season led to brisk demand for softwood sawlogs in Austria in March. Consequently\u00a0prices have increased regionally and are between 100 and 115 e\/m3 for the leading range of spruce A\/C, 2b.<\/p>\n<p>A not insignificant part of the price adjustments will have to be spent on the sharp rise in timber harvesting costs as a result of the rise in fuel and operating resource prices.\u00a0The Austrian Chamber of Agriculture predicts that Putin's war in Ukraine will also leave its mark on transport logistics.\u00a0Wood that has been made available is transported away quickly, if this is not obstructed by thaw barriers or a lack of freight capacities.\u00a0In the case of Siberian larch, the stocks are quickly empty.\u00a0The prices for larch from Europe are already showing an upward trend.\u00a0Pine shows stable prices compared to the previous Ukraine.\u00a0There is also greater demand for beech than in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>Softwood industrial roundwood is very much in demand.\u00a0Especially when it comes to sanding wood, prices are up to \u20ac90 per m3.\u00a0The dependency of the production processes on Russian natural gas and the rising energy costs are currently leading to uncertainties, as the temporary closure of a site in Styria proves.\u00a0Red beech pulpwood is in high demand with a stable price.<\/p>\n<p>The energy wood market was to experience new dynamics as a result of the war-related price increases for natural gas and heating oil.\u00a0In Burgenland, for example, there has been a significant upturn in demand for quality firewood since the outbreak of war \u2013 and that towards the end of the heating
