Mets\u00e4 Group is prepared for the problems of availability of wood raw material caused by the depletion of birch imported from Russia.<\/p>\n

The company has held co-operation negotiations at its plywood mills in Suolahti and Punkaharju, where an agreement has been made on the possible adjustment of birch plywood production.<\/p>\n

During the negotiations, layoffs lasting up to 30 days were agreed.\u00a0They will be implemented, if necessary, by the end of June 2022.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of March, the operations of\u00a0Mets\u00e4 Group's only production unit in Russia, the Svir sawmill, have been suspended. Wood procurement in Russia for the Svir sawmill and imports to Mets\u00e4 Group\u2019s Finnish and Swedish mills has also been discontinued.<\/p>\n

The Mets\u00e4 Svir sawmill in Svir, Russia produces sawn timber for a range of industries. Approximately 95 per cent of the Svir sawmill\u2019s production is exported. The sawmill was established by Mets\u00e4 Fibre in 2006.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
