UPM will cease its deliveries to Russia for the time being.<\/p>\n

While the forest industry is not directly targeted by the international sanctions at the moment, sanctions against the financial sector may impact UPM\u2019s or its customers\u2019 businesses and transactions in Russia. The full impact of the current and possible new sanctions and counter-sanctions will be known only as the situation evolves, says UPM.<\/p>\n

UPM has employees, customers and suppliers in both countries but UPM\u2019s exposure to Russian and Ukranian markets is limited. UPM Raflatac has a distribution terminal in the Kyiv region with 13 employees. The terminal operations have been closed until further notice. In Russia, UPM employs 800 persons most of whom work at the Chudovo plywood mill. The operations are currently running as usual. UPM\u2019s sales to Russia and Ukraine combined was approximately 2 % of UPM\u2019s total sales in 2021. Assets in Russia are less than 1 % of the group total. In 2021, less than 10 % of UPM\u2019s wood sourcing to Finland originated from Russia.<\/p>\n

Mets\u00e4 Group suspends operations at Svir sawmill in Russia<\/strong><\/p>\n

The operations of\u00a0Mets\u00e4 Group's only production unit in Russia, the Svir sawmill, have been suspended. Wood procurement in Russia for the Svir sawmill and imports to Mets\u00e4 Group\u2019s Finnish and Swedish mills has also been discontinued.<\/p>\n

The Mets\u00e4 Svir sawmill in Svir, Russia produces sawn timber for a range of industries. Approximately 95 per cent of the Svir sawmill\u2019s production is exported. The sawmill was established by Mets\u00e4 Fibre in 2006.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
