The storm at the beginning of February caused slight regional damage in Austrian forests.\u00a0Overall, however, according to the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, the amount produced is manageable and can be marketed without any problems due to the generally good market situation.\u00a0Due to the market-adapted felling behavior, the sawmill industry is sufficiently stocked with softwood sawlogs.\u00a0Due to the good sales situation for sawn and construction timber products, there is still brisk demand for all ranges.<\/p>\n

Prices have stabilized and are between \u20ac100 and \u20ac110 per cubic meter across Austria for the leading range of spruce A\/C, 2b.\u00a0The prices for white pine in Styria reach up to \u20ac80 per m3.\u00a0Demand for larch is unchanged from the previous month and continues to exceed supply.<\/p>\n

The results of the hardwood timber submissions underline the persistently brisk demand for darker sawlogs, especially oak.\u00a0Viewed across all tree species, the average price from the submission in Upper Austria was \u20ac624\/m3 (+50% compared to the previous year) and in Lower Austria \u20ac632\/m3 (+39% compared to the previous year).\u00a0The good hardwood market is also reflected in slight price increases for beech and ash.<\/p>\n

All softwood pulpwood continues to be in very high demand.\u00a0Red beech pulpwood is in balanced demand if stocks are good.\u00a0The prices are stable, only in Salzburg was a slight price increase observed.<\/p>\n

The energy wood market continues to be differentiated.\u00a0While it is difficult to sell additional quantities in Lower Austria, the situation in Upper Austria and Styria has improved.\u00a0In Carinthia and Salzburg, sales remain at a good level.<\/p>\n
