Although the production of wood pellets in Germany fell slightly in the fourth quarter of 2021, a new production record was set for the year as a whole. Over 90% of the pellets in Germany are made from sawmill residues.<\/p>\n

Wood pellet production in Germany was 840,000 t in the fourth quarter of 2021. Although the value is 2.5% below the volume achieved in the previous quarter (861,000 t), it exceeds the value of the fourth quarter of 2020 (806,000 t) by 4.2%.<\/p>\n

New production record<\/strong><\/p>\n

Overall, pellet production for 2021 reached a new record of 3,352,000 t (previous year: 3.1 million t) and confirmed the DEPV forecast from the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n

As usual, 93.1% and thus the majority of the quantity of wood pellets produced in the 4th quarter came from sawmill residues. Almost three-quarters of the pellets produced in Germany are delivered as \u201cloose goods\u201d by truck.<\/p>\n

A little more bagged goods, a little less export<\/strong><\/p>\n

The share of bagged pellets has increased slightly, both compared to the third quarter (26.1%) and to the same quarter of the previous year (26.0%) and has reached a high of 29.1%.<\/p>\n

At 17.2%, the export share in the fourth quarter increased slightly compared to Q3\/21 (15.2%) and also to Q4\/20 (14.8%), but the overall average for 2021 is 15.8% slightly below.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
