The Swedish wood products company Setra reported an operating profit of SEK 1.6 billion (\u20ac154 million) for 2021 - after SEK 117 million (\u20ac11.3 million) last year.\u00a0Net sales amounted to SEK 5.8 billion (\u20ac559 million, previous year: SEK 4.1 billion or \u20ac395 million).<\/p>\n
The fourth quarter alone drove an operating profit of SEK 369 million (\u20ac35.6 million, previous year: SEK 61 million or \u20ac5.9 million) and net sales of SEK 1.6 billion (\u20ac154 million \u20ac, previous year: SEK 1.1 billion or \u20ac106 million) contributed to this.<\/p>\n

7 December saw the official opening of Pyrocell\u2019s factory adjacent to Setra Kastet in G\u00e4vle. Pyrocell\u2019s Chairman Pontus Friberg cut the yellow ribbon jointly with G\u00e4vleborg\u2019s County Governor and the Dutch Ambassador to Sweden. An appropriate inauguration for such a globally unique facility.<\/p>\n
At the end of October, Setra announced its decision to invest a total of SEK 100 million (EUR 9.5 million) in high-capacity drying kilns for Heby and Hasselfors. The increase in drying capacity in Heby and Hasselfors is an important element in the ongoing development of Setra\u2019s operations in Bergslagen. Earlier this year, the company decided to invest in a new saw line in Skinnskatteberg, and last year a new rip saw was installed at the sawmill in Nyby. Examples of other investments in this area include CLT and components in L\u00e5ngshyttan, planed construction timber from the new trimming and planing plant in Hasselfors and new x-ray technology in Kastet, Nyby and Skinnskatteberg. In total, Setra has invested more than SEK 1 billion (EUR 96 million) in Bergslagen over the past four years.<\/p>\n
In October, Setra\u2019s Board decided to invest around SEK 390 million (EUR 34 million) in the Mal\u00e5 sawmill. The facility in Mal\u00e5 will have a new log intake, a new saw line, an upgraded trim saw and a new drying unit. This new unit will deliver higher-quality products, more efficient production and a lower climate footprint through smarter technology and processes compared with the current facilities. In total, the investments mean an increase in capacity of approximately 400,000 m3 of sawn wood products when they are fully implemented.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
