investment plans in the France&#8217;s wood industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>French President Emmanuel Macron has officially announced a \"France 2030 Investment Plan\" with a total investment of 30 billion euros, aiming to revive French industry, promote ecological transformation and technological innovation, committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% from 2015 levels by 2030.\u00a0The five-year plan mainly involves semiconductors, biopharmaceuticals, nuclear energy, new energy vehicles, technology innovation for agricultural and forest products industry, of which about 40%-50% of the funds will be used for a decarbonized economy.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the French forest and timber sector has an annual revenue of 60 billion euros, including about 26 billion euros in added value to the industry, directly or indirectly providing nearly 393,000 jobs, accounting for 12.5% \u200b\u200bof manufacturing jobs.\u00a0The forest and timber industry helps offset nearly 20% of France's carbon footprint every year and is strategically important in achieving the goal of decarbonizing the economy.\u00a0To help France achieve its climate goals, the \"France 2030 Investment Plan\" will provide 500 million euros of special funds for the forest and wood industry to further activate the vitality of the industry and help achieve \"carbon neutrality\".<\/p>\n<p>The French Wood Industry Strategy Committee has assessed that the investment needs of the wood and furniture industry in the next five years will be 1.2 billion euros per year, of which the wood construction market alone requires 820 million euros of investment per year.\u00a0In addition to this, 200 million euros a year are needed to support forest regeneration.\u00a0The \"France 2030 Investment Plan\" is regarded as an important step on the road to stimulate the vitality of the forest products industry.\u00a0The 500 million euros in funding provided through the France 2030 Investment Plan will enable the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The first is to build a new wood processing plants to support French companies to become global industry leaders in specific product areas such as laminated plywood, cross-laminated lumber, furniture accessories and wood packaging materials, and to strengthen France's \"sovereignty\", by reducing imports.<\/li>\n<li>The second is to develop and apply innovative processes and technical processes to meet the market demand for future high value-added products (such as \"green chemistry\" products, fiber products, technical wood, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>The third is to enhance the production capacity of existing wood processing plants, improve their production efficiency and modernization level.<\/li>\n<li>Fourth, increase the value of wood processing by-products, and attach importance to renewable wood energy production, wood product processing and drying processes.<\/li>\n<li>The fifth is to maintain forest vitality, improve timber productivity and biodiversity conservation capabilities through forest renewal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, the French timber industry strategy committee also stated that wood is one of the construction materials with the lowest carbon emissions.\u00a0As far as the French construction timber market is concerned, it is expected to create an additional value-added of more than 3 billion euros by 2030.\u00a0At present, French wooden buildings only account for 6% of the total construction.\u00a0To this end, the new French environmental regulations, which will be implemented in 2022, will further promote the development of wood-frame buildings, increase carbon storage, and help France achieve the goal of \"carbon neutrality\" by
