As there seems to be no prospect of rapprochement between UPM and Paperiliitto, the union has announced an extension of the strikes for another two weeks, until February 19, 2022.<\/p>\n
The strike at UPM's seven Finnish plants has been going on for nearly three weeks.\u00a0So far, Paperiliitto and UPM have not been able to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.\u00a0Both sides say they are ready to negotiate, but only on their own terms.\u00a0While UPM offers separate agreements for each of its five business units, Paperiliitto requires a single collective agreement for all of the group's pulp and paper mills located in Finland.\u00a0\u201cWe have repeatedly called for negotiations on specific companies, but the union has rejected these invitations,\u201d UPM stresses.<\/p>\n
Representatives of Paperiliitto announced the extension of the strike until February 19, if the parties do not come to an agreement.\u00a0This is the second extension; in early January, the union had already extended the strike until February 5, 2022.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
