\u200bConstruction work on the site has advanced in line with the master schedule. The sawmill buildings were completed in November.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe final HVAC work and installation of equipment and machinery are under way on the sawmill construction site in Rauma.<\/p>\n

The buildings for the sawline and the sorting lines of green and dried sawn timber have been completed. Line machinery and equipment are currently being installed. Equipment for green sorting will be installed on the green sorting line as well as the sticking and stacking line.<\/p>\n

Construction of the sawmill infeed and debarking department is nearing completion. The first debarking machine is in place. The installation of other equipment is continuing.<\/p>\n

The log-sorting building was completed in December.<\/p>\n

Production at the sawmill is set to begin during the third quarter of 2022.<\/p>\n

The value of Mets\u00e4 Group\u2019s Rauma sawmill investment is approximately EUR 200 million, and the new unit will produce around 750,000 cubic metres of pine sawn timber a year. The new sawmill will use machine vision and artificial intelligence in different stages of the sawing process. Similar technology is not yet in use anywhere in the sawmill industry, the company says. The annual use of logs sourced in Finland is estimated to be around 1.5 million cubic metres.
