The Swedish sawmill group Vida, which is majority owned by the Canadian Canfor since 2018, plans to reduce lumber production in December.<\/p>\n
According to Vida, there is currently an imbalance between supply and demand for wood products in large parts of the world. Due to this, Vida therefore plans to limit production and stand still for a longer period in connection with the Christmas holidays.<\/p>\n
Vida is a global supplier of processed products from sustainable Swedish forests. The group has approximately 1,250 employees at 22 production facilities, of which 12 are sawmills. The industries are strategically located close to the forest owners in Sm\u00e5land, Sk\u00e5ne and V\u00e4stra G\u00f6taland.<\/p>\n
Production is mainly focused on structural timber for a number of different markets. 75 percent of Vida's sawn wood products are exported to Europe, the USA, Australia, Africa and Asia.
