Foreign brokers buy wood from Polish forests on a massive scale.\u00a0This causes a huge increase in the price of raw wood, even up to 300 percent.\u00a0Polish companies have a problem with purchasing domestic wood, many Polish companies have complained.<\/p>\n

This problem is mainly related to the rapidly increasing price of wood.\u00a0The price is rising due to the purchase of raw timber by foreign companies that deal with international brokerage in the purchase of timber.\u00a0This causes another problem, which is the lack of raw wood on the domestic market.\u00a0The Polish State Forests have a strictly defined the annual limit for obtaining and selling green raw materials.\u00a0In addition, there are restrictions imposed by the European Union, which promotes environmentalism.\u00a0For several years now, the inhabitants of towns located in, among others,\u00a0in the area of \u200b\u200bthe Bia\u0142owie\u017ca Primeval Forest, they cannot even buy firewood, because forest management there is very limited.<\/p>\n

Institutions that deal with the wood industry, such as\u00a0The Polish Chamber of Commerce of the Wood Industry appeal to the government to ban the export of unprocessed wood.\u00a0Because further massive purchases of Polish raw material by foreign companies may lead to the collapse of many Polish timber companies.<\/p>\n

Timber prices in Poland started to rise sharply in May this year.\u00a0\u201cWe expected prices to rise, but no one expected that in extreme cases these prices would rise by 200 or 300 percent.\u00a0We also did not expect so much activity of international intermediaries in the timber trade and foreign wood corporations, \u201dsaid Rafa\u0142 Szelfer, director of the Polish Chamber of Commerce of the Wood Industry.<\/p>\n

Currently, the forest area in Poland is 9,435 thousand.\u00a0ha (with land related to forest management), it accounts for 0.23 percent.\u00a0forests of the world and about 6 percent.\u00a0the forest area of \u200b\u200bthe European Union.\u00a0According to official data, about 10 percent of raw wood, i.e. 4 million cubic meters, currently leaves Poland.\u00a0Wood market specialists say that it can actually be up to twice as much.\u00a0Often there are ridiculous situations, when Polish wood, in a processed form, e.g. joinery, returns to Poland, of course at an appropriately high price.<\/p>\n

The sector of the Polish economy dealing with wood processing employs as many as 330,000 people, which is 2.5 percent.\u00a0employment across the economy.\u00a0In addition, the State Forests employ 25 thousand.\u00a0people in forest cultivation and logging, and about 50 thousand.\u00a0works in companies that perform various forestry works.\u00a0The Polish wood industry produces 2.3 percent.\u00a0Country's GDP.\u00a0It is over PLN 30 billion a year.\u00a0Poland is a leading producer of wooden furniture.\u00a0There is also a strong group of producers of wood boards - chipboard, fibreboard, plywood and others.\u00a0The economic sector consisting of producers of sawn timber, pallets, wooden floors, garden architecture, wooden structures and wooden houses is extensive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
