The price of spruce sawlogs has fallen from -13.79% to -23.30% in three months, decreasing from -4.6% to -7.77% on average per month.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the price of birch sawlogs has risen from 7.68% to 17.6% from July to September, with the average monthly price rising from 2.56% to 5.87%. The price of aspen sawlogs has risen to 15.25%, where the average monthly price increases from 0.12% to 5.08%. Meanwhile, the price of pulpwood has risen from 6.76% to 10.63%, thus increasing the price from 2.25% to 3.54% on average per month. The price of firewood also increased by 3.1%, while the price of oak and ash firewood increased by 4.56%. The price of firewood increases by an average of 1.03% per month and of oak and ash firewood by 1.52%.<\/p>\n<p>As M\u0101rcis Saklaurs, the head of the wood sales department and a member of the board of the forest owners' cooperative \"Me\u017esaimnieks\" says, birch is especially in demand in the Latvian market at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>Birch sawlogs reach the moment 90 euros per cubic meter, while in some cases even more than 100 euros per cubic meter. The demand for birch pulpwood in ports has also grown significantly, reaching a price of up to 50 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Saklaurs says that even though prices for softwood sawlogs have fallen, prices are still high. Softwood sawlogs, thick dimensions (18 and more centimeters) still cost about 100 euros per cubic meter, while the thin ones (14-18 centimeters) cost about 80 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>\n<p>Low quality sawlogs cost from 70 to 82 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Currently, the Latvian timber market is experiencing a fall in the price of softwood roundwood, which has fallen by as much as 23% from July to September.
