At 861,000 tonnes (t), in the third quarter of 2021 Germany again produced a quantity of wood pellets that had never been produced within three months.<\/em><\/p>\n

The value means an increase of 1.3 percent compared to the last quarter (850,000 t) and of 8.7 percent compared to the period from July to September 2020 (792,000 t).<\/p>\n

With a 93.5 percent share, sawdust remains as the starting material, as usual, the predominant basis for pellet production. Almost three quarters of the pellets produced in Germany are delivered as \u201cloose goods\u201d by truck. The proportion of bagged goods rose to 26.1 percent (Q1 21.7%, Q2 23.3%).<\/p>\n

German pellet export quota fell slightly to 15.2 percent, both compared to the same quarter of the previous year (17.3%) and compared to the second quarter of this year (16.4%).
