To anticipate any risk of recurrence, the industry is however announcing the creation of a task force to secure supplies and find solutions in the future.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last July, French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced an additional envelope of 100 million euros for the French timber industry as part of the recovery plan, bringing the total to 300 million euros.<\/p>\n<p>The objective: to further help the French sector to reforest, to industrialize, and to meet the growing needs of the construction sector, in particular with the arrival of the 2020 Environmental Regulation (RE2020), which will put the spotlight on wood and biobased materials.<\/p>\n<p>Since the post-covid recovery, demand for wood has increased around the world, leading to shortages and price increases. But while the industry has been facing shortages and tensions for several months, it is now announcing signs of relaxation.<\/p>\n<p>\"Tensions related to the time of supply today tend to diminish, which should lead logically in the coming months to a price fall. However, the issue of log export continues to threaten the supply of many French sawmills in the short term ,\u201d said the industry in a press release.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A task force to anticipate and find solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thus, to prevent the risk of recurrence and find solutions, the France timber industry has created a \u201c task force\u201d, coordinated by the Strategic Committee for the timber industry, France Bois For\u00eat, Fibois France, and France Bois Industries Entreprise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Task Force analyzes the short-term supply difficulties observed in order to find short and medium-term solutions. From a structural point of view, the players in the sector have undertaken joint work aimed at more contractualization to develop competitiveness and set up additional capacities for processing units, the supply of which will also have to be secured.
